| 16.03.2020 | The Annual General Meeting will take place this evening at Whitehill Golf Club, 19.45 for 20.00 start. Obviously we should take relevant precautions given regarding washing hands and minimal contact. | 17.05.2018 | I'd like to thank the Bell at Standon, who hosted us (The Brown Bear) for a very competitive friendly on one of our bye weeks, this Monday just gone. If any pubs out there aren't in our league but would like to challenge a team for a friendly, one team has a bye each week so feel free to get something arranged. | 01.05.2018 | And we're off - week one has been played! Note that because we've got an odd number of teams this year, each week one team will always have a bye. This week could be used to play friendlies against teams from other leagues, or against players interested in the sport but who can't regularly field a team of their own for a whole season. --Chris |
| 21.04.2018 | After a couple of false starts, the new fixture list is now online. We've got seven teams this year, so will be playing a season and a half. The League table and results sheet can be found at here. I have also reviewed and updated the match rules to reconfirm that when a ball touches the rope it is out (albeit that this may be modified by local agreement) as well as a section on the point awarded for claimed games. I have also amended the constitution to reflect the name change (of about a decade ago!) to the Central Herts Petanque League and include a previously agreed clause that new players (who have not previously played during the season in this league) may join mid-season and be registered in the week following their first game. --Chris |
| 05.02.2018 | Hello - so, we're getting things put in place for the new petanque season. Matt, as league chair has a new phone - 07512 079910; with league email address centralhertspetanque@gmail.com. A full email has gone out, let me know if you haven't received a copy. In summary, we're currently thinking of starting the league on Monday 23rd April. Whether we run a league and a half or a single league depends on whether we get any additional teams join. With that in mind, could all captains (other than the george, of course!) please approach their pubs to see if there is interest in a second team being fielded. As agreed at the October meeting, we're going to hold the start of season captain's meeting on Monday 19th March at 20:30 at the Brown Bear. Minutes of the October meeting etc. to follow. --Chris |

Apologies for those teams who managed to secure victories against them - this has had an impact upon the positions in the league table, but we feel that the only objective way to approach this situation was follow the constitution to the letter. --Chris |

I think that I've got all the "Home" and "Away" fixtures the right way round - for reference, the template spreadsheet tab gives the definitive schedule - please could you check this against the individual team pages and let me know if I've made any errors. We are looking at holding a league meeting at around the beginning of February, more details will follow. We are still seeking volunteer(s) to the position of treasurer and someone (different?) to take over eventually from Jeff as league organiser. When I set up the website, I lifted the rules and constitution from Rory's site - after discussion with Jeff, I think there are several pieces that are out of date, including the section on claimed games. You may need Excel 2007 or above to read the spreadsheets - let me know if you really have difficulties, and I'll see if I can do any conversions to other formats.
